Fav. Pics from July, August and September

So here are the highlights and favorites from the past three months.

Paul made me my birthday cake this year. Since I usually do characters or something on his and the kids cakes he felt he should do the same for me. He asked me what I wanted but I didn't know so he surprised me.

Early in July we took the opportnity to travel to PEI.

This picture was hard to get because there were so many people always going in or posing for pictures.

We thought this was amusing. Quite a few trees had names on them but since this was Green Gables I thought I would take a picture. (Unfortunately it was not "spelled with an 'e' ")

We also took the kids to the beach in PEI. It was Reina's first sand adventure. She did not like it and spent most of the day sitting in a beach chair forcing Paul to the towels.

Enoch tried to lay down like he had seen others do, but didn't realize you really DO need to lay on a towel.

We stopped for an emergency diaper change on the way home and the place had this happy blueberry statue. The kids were quite excited.

Just before we moved we travelled down to Lunenburg. While we were there we went to The Ovens. It is a series of caves that the ocean has carved out of the cliffs of the coast. They look like those old fashioned ovens people used to use to make bread, etc. hence the name.

Reina really liked the water and wanted to go in but it was quite cold and overcast, as well as quite a drop to the ocean.

We didn't know the Smurfs lived in Nova Scotia but Gargamel must have been busy as we didn't see any of them.

The kids also enjoyed a quick trip to the jail house...

where they joined Paul in jail.

Of course, while there, we saw the Bluenose II.

They were letting people on so we got to tour it a little.

Enoch was excited to try "driving the boat."

And Reina made plenty of fun discoveries.

She really wanted to play in this puddle. She kept checking to see if I was watching her, hoping she could sneek in.

Lauryn started Grade 1 once we arrived in Edmonton....

and Eva started Grade 3.

The kids have really been enjoying the new backyard and we are so glad to finally be mostly settled.

So that is basically our last three months.

No pictures of the move but that is probably a good thing. And here is another good thing. Thanks Jo. I love the hat but she would never leave it on. Eva is holding her hands down so we could record that at least she had it on for a few moments.

Hopefully it won't be another threee months before I post again.

Reina's Dubious Career Choice!!!

We're not sure how we feel about this ability but it sure is funny. (Sorry about the angle, I always forget not to video sideways.)

Check out our other new blogs. I did another month worth of blogging in one day. It seems to work the best for us.

Canada Day!!

For Canada Day the Museum of Natural History was having free admission so we took the kids since we probably wouldn't go another time. On the roof they have a giant frog.

They were having an new opening of their butterfly exhibit so we got to go in and see the butterflies. It was very hot inside the greenhouse so we didn't stay long but here are some of the beautiful butterflies we saw.

We also toured the rest of the museum. We saw live frogs and snakes,

and Gus the turtle.

They also had a giant krakken devouring a whale.

Enoch enjoyed the dinsour exhibit

and the girls liked the other animals.

Everyone liked the bees. They have this hive right inside the museum with the tube leading outside.

The kids had fun inside this giant foam fish.

And Reina came out of her cocoon and became a beautiful butterfly.

Down the street from the museum they were having a big outdoor picnic with lots of vendors and stuff to do. The girls got their faces painted. Enoch chickened out.

That night we also went down to the harbour to watch the fireworks.

Our kids have never seen them so we got there early trying to get a good spot. We didn't know exactly where they were being set off from so even though we were there early we didn't have the best place but the kids had fun. It was a beautiful night. We watched the sun set and saw the sky turn pink. I tried to capture it pictures but it didn't work out too well.




Since we were there early the kids got to play on "the boat park" as they call it.



They also climbed around on this broken propeller that is from a coast guard ship that helped the boat (sorry, can't remember the name) that was the first to navigate the Northern Passage. It broke two fins off while it was trying to break through 12 -15 foot thick ice.


We brought popcorn to eat while watching the fireworks but it didn't last till they started. (The pink glow is not our camera, it is from the sky. It was so PINK.)



Here are the "AMAZING" fireworks. They don't translate well onto film but you can kind of see the kids reactions to them. The kid behind me was very excited as you will be able to hear.




Well, after a long day and night we finally made it home. Hope everyone had a fun July 1st and July 4th!!

Happy Birthday Times Two

Paul and Enoch both celebrated their birthdays in June but it appears we have many more pictures and video of Enoch's birthday than Paul's. I wonder why that is?!? This is Paul's favorite cake. It is super chocolaty.


Enoch got many presents, of course. Here are some of the favorites.

A toy car wash kit.



A Spiderman tie from Grandma. He wears this every week now instead of his other one.

Thing feet that make stomping noises when you walk in them. Enoch was actully a bit afraid of them but the girls thought they were great.

And his own lightsaber!!!

Now he can have battles with his Dad.

He had to try on the Darth Vader mask too. Doesn't he make a cute Vader!!

Reina makes an even cuter one but she REALLY didn't like the mask.

Afer all the present opening, fighting and in Reina's case, crying, she needed a little rest and comfort.

After dinner, of course we had cake. IronMan cake, candles and unfortuately singing.
